Tried OKO Austin for dinner and it was good overall. The place feels more like a nicer night-out spot, and the prices match that. We ordered a few dishes to share and most of them hit—good flavors, nice presentation, and everything came out hot. Service was friendly, but it got a little slow once the place filled up. I’d come back when I want Filipino food in a more upscale setting.

The food is not what you would expect from Filipino restaurant, if you’re a home grown Pinoy looking for traditional Filipino cooking. Oko delivers a special representation of Filipino food with respects to its flavors and ingredients used. The menu — all the items are named in Filipino. However, they labeled the sides as “Ulam”. Ulam in Tagalog is the entree served with rice on the side. This got me wondering, maybe they didnt consult a Filipino on the wording in their menu? The food we tried: The Sinigang na Pakpak — I thought it would be chicken wings using sinigang powder as a dry rub. Instead the wings were cooked with a sauce that closely resembles adobo and is served with a lime that has the sinigang powder on top. The combination goes extremely well, very similar to Mang Inasal’s grilled chicken with sinigang soup on the side. Talong ng Mangga Bagoong — what did they mean by “talong ng mangga”? Translated, it would mean Mangoe’s Eggplant lol. Name aside, this is tortang talong served with ensaladang mangga topped with chewy small shrimps as “bagoong”. Absolutely Outstanding Filipino Comfort Food at OKO Austin! From the moment you walk in, OKO Austin hits you with warm hospitality and the rich aroma of authentic Filipino cooking. Every dish feels like it was made with love — bold, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. The lechon is pure perfection — crispy golden skin with juicy, melt-in-your-mouth meat that captures everything I love about traditional Filipino food. The pancit is a must-try too: fresh noodles with the perfect balance of veggies and savory goodness in every bite. And don’t even get me started on the chicken wings — sweet and addictively crispy! You can taste the heart of the Philippines in every plate. The portions are generous, the presentation is on point, and the staff makes you feel right at home. OKO Austin is easily one of the best spots in the city for authentic Filipino flavors — 10/10 experience every single time!

Absolutely loved Oko in Austin! This Filipino restaurant was so delicious — every dish we tried was amazing! The cozy ambience made it the perfect spot for catching up with friends or even a date. The music was such a vibe, and the drinks were delicious and well-crafted. A special shoutout to our bartender Ozzy — he was the only one behind the bar and still handled everything with calmness and grace. He was so friendly, attentive, and made everyone feel welcome! The manager and staff were absolutely wonderful — so kind, friendly, and always greeting guests with genuine smiles. You could really feel the teamwork and care from everyone! OKO is bold, charismatic, and every bite is full of flavored and purposeful cooking. From the moment we arrived we were greeted and seated immediately and our waitress moved quickly. The setting is intimate and cozy giving a homey feel. We ordered a few items and the food was broken up into segments. Here’s what we ate: Lumpia - perfectly crisped and salty outside. The inner pork filling tastes savory and delicious although the texture is a bit strange, almost hotdog like Pancit - delicious. The vegetables are cooked to perfection and the sauce is bold and savory allowing the noodles to soak it up Garlic rice - light and flavorful. Garlic rice is so simple of an idea but the execution here is spot on Baboy - the pork skewers are otherworldly. Flavored to perfection with the slightest char. The meat is juicy but not tough, the best item we had all night Halo halo - a towering desert with flan, ube ice cream, and the other usual toppings.
